Stormello ran steadily from last June through December, capping off the year with a big win in the Hollywood Futurity. With his earnings, he’s already almost assured of making the gate on the 133rd Kentucky Derby Day, which adds to his allure. Naturally speedy, he’s going to have to learn to harness some energy for the later stages of his races.

That was the case in the Breeders’ Cup, when an early hot pace left him with no response in the stretch.
