2008 NFL Draft
Top 5 freshmen this year
Miami Dolphins: Chris Long
There is no doubt this year who the first pick will be. Lo and behold Chris Long, bragging an outstanding combine despite being frustrated of his other statistics knowing he can do more. Long would be like a long lost family member for Bill Parcells, who would fit to a T with Miami’s known defense.
St. Louis Rams: Vernon Gholston
Next on the slate is Vernon Gholston, with work ethic that is out of this world. Unbelievable strength specially when you see him benchpress 225 pounds with 37 reps and do broad jumps of 35.5 inches. You would not believe it until you see it. He is more machine than man. With Leonard Little and acquiring James Hall, Gholston would certainly help on St. Louis’ pass rush.
Atlanta Falcons: Jake Long
Jake Long at third wouldn’t be a surprise. Although fans are being cautious of getting a Robert Gallery. However on the positive side take for example Joe Thomas and D’Brickshaw Ferguson. Top tackles are going to help Atlanta big time, and don’t forget offensive tackle is a position direly needed by the Falcons.
Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden
I know the Raiders just re-signed Justin Fargas, but we all know what Al Davis loves to do. He drafts speed and the flashiest player available. Darren McFadden seems to fit both categories. I’m pretty confident in predicting that Al Davis called in Lane Kiffin to change his adult diaper in the wake of seeing McFadden blow everyone away with his 4.27 at the combine.I’m not sure if adding another running back - albeit a very talented one - to the roster is the greatest idea in the world, but I’m predicting what the Raiders are going to do; not what’ll be best for them.
With the re-signing of Justin Fargas, Al Davis will do what he does best. Drafting the most agile and flashiest player available in the draft. What more can he ask for in Darren McFadden. Adding another running back is going to be very untraditional as they say but this move can entirely change the outcome of the season for the Raiders.
Kansas City Chiefs: Sedrick Ellis
Jake Long being high in the draft, the Chiefs would have to settle for someone else. However the need for a defensive tackle for the Chief’s would lead them to Sedrick Ellis. That’s not just settling. They are getting a juggernaut of a player, coming from someone who throws defensive linemen like paper.
