Liverpool FC maintained the top spot of the English Premier League for one week, and was looking to maintain the top spot with what would seem like an easy win against Tottenham Hotspur, who are at the bottom of the English Premier League standings. However, Liverpool slipped from the top spot with a 2-1 loss to Tottenham. Liverpool are tied with Chelsea in the points with 26 points each, but Chelsea have the better goal difference and thus maintain the top spot in the English Premier League standings.

Chelsea were able to bounce back to the top of the standings with a huge 5-0 win over Sunderland. Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka scored a hat-trick in that win.

Defending English Premier League champions Manchester United moved up to the third spot with 21 points following a 4-3 home victory over Hull City.

Arsenal maintains the 4th spot of the English Premier League with 20 points despite a 2-1 loss to Stoke City. Aston Villa are at the 5th spot, and Hull City is at the 6th spot.
