SBG Global Opening Line: Vikings - 6.5 , Total 42

The Minnesota Vikings can clinch the NFC North with a win on Sunday as they host the New York Giants. Minnesota can also win the division if the Bears lose at Houston. The Vikings got a big break last week as the Giants won against Carolina clinching the #1 seed in the NFC, making this game meaningless for New York. The Vikings haven’t won the division since 2000. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking New York Giants on the Road.

The question in this game is how long the New York starters will play. “Our basic philosophy is that we want to win every game and that’s where our mentality should be,” head coach Tom Coughlin said. “We will be smart about any advice we get from our medical people.” New York players that could miss the game are cornerback Aaron Ross, running back Brandon Jacobs, receiver Domenik Hixon, defensive end Justin Tuck and defensive tackle Fred Robbins.

Minnesota is led by the league’s top rusher in Adrian Peterson but all is not well for Peterson who has fumbled five times in the last three games. “When you look at the position we’re in, it’s getting close to the playoffs so guys are going to do whatever they can do to get that ball out,” said Peterson. The Giants have the better rushing offense with Jacobs and Derrick Ward leading the way. Last week they had 301 yards rushing against Carolina.

The Giants have won the last three games against Minnesota in the Metrodome. Here are more NFL betting stats for Sunday’s game. The Giants are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a road underdog. The Giants are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 road games. The Giants are 36-15-2 ATS in their last 53 vs. the NFC. The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between the two teams. The road team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings

The Vikings are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite. The Vikings are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. the NFC. The Vikings are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in December.

SBG Global Current Line: Vikings - 7 , Total 42

The Under is 7-2 in the Giants last 9 games as a road underdog. The Over is 7-3-1 in the Giants last 11 games following a win.

What should the Giants do tomorrow?
The Eagles don’t have a major deep downfield receiving threat other than rookie WR DeSean Jackson, and the Giants are without their Pro Bowl star, the 6-5, 225-pound Plaxico Burress (suspended). So it’s going to be a running attack built around short passing and concentration on the TE as a major receiver. Look for the Giants to strike early and often with the 6-4, 265-pound RB Brandon Jacobs to “tenderize” the middle of the Eagles’ defense, followed by the faster Derrick Ward (5-10, 230) and the elusive (5-9, 200) Ahmad Bradshaw./Cool widgets at statbeast.
