Odds to Win The Barclays 2007

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

The PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup begin this weekend with The Barclays from the Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY. Vijay Singh, the only golfer to win The Barclays three times, is the defending champion.
Golf betting fans should know that this year the tournament is the start of the FedExCup playoffs as 144 players [...]

British Open Betting Picks

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Take Tiger Woods (11-4), 1/6 unit: He’s going for three in a row at the Open, wife and child at home. I understand the distraction of the new father but Nick Faldo points out that he and others have won majors with newborns. And Tiger’s practical precision last year in Liverpool is likely to be aped by other would-be contenders who can’t play six-irons to birdie range like he can. Look for renewed focus after hosting in D.C. and his acute awareness of history, and the fact that the Royal Bank of Scotland routinely advertises Jack as the best major winner of all time [...]

Golf Betting Picks: 2007 British Open

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

The British Open is the oldest and most prestigious event in golf and perhaps in major sports. It is so rich in history and tradition and requires so much skill to and execution to win that no less an authority than Tiger Woods claimed that it is his favorite tournament, period. And as so as we eagerly await the starting of this grand event at Carnoustie in Scotland the players are busy with last minute preparations. The tee off times in the field of 150 plus golfers are early according to tradition and the logistical needs to accommodate all the golfers. All groups will consist of three players and a group will be sent off to the tees every 11 minutes until everyone has participated [...]

John Deere Classic: Odds To Win

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

Take Zach Johnson (14-1), 1/6 unit in the outright: Illinois is as close to Iowa as Johnson is going to get this year on Tour, geographically. The PGA Championship is in Oklahoma, which is two states away from Illinois by stretch, but the Memorial in Ohio was closer in terms of mileage. Point is [...]

AT&T National Golf Betting Picks

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland hosts the AT&T National invitational this weekend. The tournament replaces the International on the PGA Tour and already has a star studded field.

The #1 player in the world Tiger Woods is the host of the event and part of a field of 120 players that also includes four others in the top six world golf rankings, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh [...]

Odds to Win the 2007 Buick Open

Friday, June 29th, 2007

The 2007 Buick Open will be missing Tiger Woods this year as the world’s top golfer is taking the week off to be with his wife and new daughter. If you think that because Woods is not entered in the event that there would be no big favorite you would be wrong. Jim Furyk is actually quite a big favorite to win the Buick Open this week. He is listed at 4-1 at SBG Global and while that is not quite the 2-1 that would have been the case on Woods, it is not far off.

Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan hosts the Buick Open this week. It is a relatively short course, 7,127 yards, par 72 which has large flat greens which means birdies will be fast and furious.
Warwick Hills was the ninth easiest course on the PGA Tour last year [...]

Buick Open: PGA Tour Odds and Lines

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Take Charles Howell III (40-1), 1/6 unit: Where have you gone Thurston Howell the Third? After a huge start—five top-10s including a win in his first seven tournaments of 2007—he’s finished inside the top-25 once, missed two cuts and withdrew from the Memorial. He’s still in the top-5 in FedEx Cup. He finished T51 at the U.S. Open, took last week off, and should be ready to go. He’s only played the Buick Open once, back in 2003, and he finished T38 [...]

2006 Ryder Cup: USA vs Europe

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Ryder Cup Prediction: Despite the so-called weaknesses in their team, America will run Europe very, very close and while you shouldn’t be surprised if Tom Lehman is smiling from ear-to-ear on Sunday evening, Europe should have just enough to retain the trophy.
This Ryder Cup, despite the pomp and circumstance, actually has some story lines:
The biennial [...]

K.J. Choi vs Chad Campbell

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

PGA Picks K.J. Choi vs Chad Campbell
Chad Campbell represents the best mix of odds and chances at this week’s 84 Lumber Classic in Pennsylvania.
Take Campbell (40-1), 1 unit: He’s long enough off the tee, averaging 293 (this is a 7,500-yard layout), but the name of the game for Campbell is hitting greens. [...]

PGA Championship Jim Furyk vs Phil Mickelson

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Golf Betting Picks PGA Championship Jim Furyk vs Phil Mickelson
Take Tiger Woods (5-4), 1/6 unit: I was taking Tiger Woods in every tournament at the start of the year, figuring if he had a 2000 kind of year, he?d win close to 50% of the time (in 2000, he won nine times in 21 official [...]
