Eight of the best baseball teams in the country resume their quest towards baseball's biggest stage, the MLB World Series. Two conferences, with four teams each conference, each vying for that one spot to represent their group in Major League Baseball's biggest and grandest stage.

In the National League, the Houston Astros will tango with the Atlanta Braves while the San Diego Padres will meet the 2004 NL Champions, St. Louis Cardinals. All four will battle in the National League Divisional Series with the two winners facing each other in the National League Championship Series (NLCS).

In the American League, it's not as simple as that. Four teams look forward to representing the American League in the World Series. Such teams are the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels and the New York Yankees. But it's a whole different baseball game here. The Yankees won the AL East after duking out with rivals, Boston Red Sox. However, these Yanks' will be facing the LA Angels after they defeated the Texas Rangers. The win gave the Angels 95 wins to tie the Yankees and since the Angels beat New York City six out of 10 games, the Angels will have home-field advantage.

Also, you would think that the Boston Red Sox will have home-field against the White Sox right? Not quite. The Chicago White Sox finished the regular season with the best record in the American League with 99-63. However, the Chicago Cubs (oops), White Sox are the underdogs in the series with Boston.

Such is the roller coaster ride going to the World Series, and a nice ride it will be.
